It would have been nice if voat simply set up another site with a reddit fork. reddit tech is good, it's the administration and management that's a problem.
The difference here was that Voat was never supposed to be a Reddit alternative in the first place. It was and still is a hobby project to lock his programming skills in. When a site blows up, are you going to waste thousands of hours rewriting the site in a completely different programming language or are you going to optimize the code and work it into a stable site?
