I do!
When they consume 10k calories in one meal! Winning!
Or when they have a ham-only version of the 10k.teehee

Shouldn't there be a pace minimum for these marathons?
Whats the point of "running" a race at a pace that's slower than walking?
Plus its not fair to those that officiate and manage the race to wait an hour after the last normal person runs across the finish line. Has marathons turned into PC culture as well?

There is often a cutoff time of 6 or 8 hours, so they can re-open roads and let the organizers go home. But not always. Ragen Chastain did a marathon in just over 12 hours, and thus was last by about 4 hours.

I've been noticing that more and more. Marathons are cool and 5k/10k races are fun and challenging. But when roads are still diverted for hours after the race should have ended its just ridiculous. Generally in races I've been in they follow and reopen roads as the race progresses. So for each segment there is minimal impact on local populace. But I've also seen, recently, where the beginning of the race is still closed when the first runner crosses the finish line.
Bottom line, fat people ruin it for everyone. If letting fats run is the going trend, I can see local municipals not wanting to support 5k and 10k runs which will be saddening.

I don't get why fatties enter races just to waddle the entire damn course. Like I just started running maybe 6 weeks ago, and I want to enter a 5k in the spring (because fuck cold and snow and icy bullshit) but I'm not going to do it until I can actually complete it in a respectable time.

Both feet on the ground, but "running" a 10k. I could finish a marathon easily if I could walk too.

Not going to happen though, because the doughnut huffers are a bigger market (heh) for race organizers.

I actually read a story about some British obese who competed in a 10k a few years ago, they wouldn't stop covering it because of his in-humane time he finished. I think it equaled out to be 5 minute miles everyone was dumbfounded at how a 300+ obese could make that time until they reviewed the race footage. LOL he had hailed a taxi to the end of the race! And then proceeded to blame the race for reporting his time and not DQ'ing him sooner.
