I think we should call this the "Jump the shark" theory.

Yes, that seems absolutely fitting. It might even need some time traveling elements to boot. Maybe White Walker Jon Snow travels back in time to stop the murder of Jon Arryn, and the whole show ends before season 1 even starts.

Or Jon realizes that Arryn needs to die and is caught in a moral quandry. At the end of the final episode of the final season he is holding a bottle of poison above arryn's drink, then cut to black, role credits. Then ten months later, they announce that there will be a new season, but they just play the first season over again.

I'm going with he's resurrected the same way his mother in law and the mountain were...or did HBO not do this?

We don't know yet. All of the signs seem to point toward a Lord of Light intervention.

Who are you talking about when you say Jon Snow's Mother in Law?

The Mountain, in theory, was ressurected by Qyburn. Although, I'm not sure he was actually completely dead.

Who are you talking about when you say Jon Snow's Mother in Law?

Probably a mistake on the part of the poster, likely meant Step-Mother. That'd be Cathlyn Stark, Ned's wife and mother to Rob, Sansa, and Arya. Since In Context, everyone is still assuming Jon really is Ned's bastard, Cat Stark would still be considered his Step Mother.

There are far more interesting theories about his true origin, which I'm sure a lot of folks here are familiar with.

that one guy said he was run through 4 times, arya witnessed it... he thanked the lord of light... the red woman rides in just before jon snow gets stabbed, i'd say he is definitely going to come back.

i'm still not sure about stannis, the red womans visions were correct, but it was john snow who was the chosen one not stannis, it doesnt show his death and amazon woman needs help saving sanza in winterfell, clearly sanza and reek have further story archs and the thick snow broke their fall. sanza, reek, stanis, breanna will regroup with john snow for epic win.

Lady Stoneheart isn't in it so far, and Sir Robert Strong was in the last episode.

My money is on Warg into Ghost -> body gets animated by Other shenanigans -> Warg back -> Enjoy new undead body.

Ooh, I like that theory! For the books, I was thinking Melisandre would likely Res him, but she's not at Castle Black anymore in the TV series, so this one seems like a more fitting theory for HBO's spin.

But Targaryen's don't warg.

I've read a couple of books, but am caught up on the show. Was there any inclination that Jon had the warg ability? I suppose it was implied in the scene where Ghost helps Sam save Gilly, but did he ever dabble in it in the books?

Very interesting. So in that theory, is he sort of undead when he wargs back in? Does his body still work or is it dead?

I've heard the "Jon Becomes a White Walker/Wight" theory before. Honestly, I don't buy it, and I don't believe Jon is actually dead. Critically wounded? Yeah, totally. Dead? That can be a particularly blurry line. We know Melisandre has been showing interest in Lord Snow (more subtle in the books than in the show), and I think she might be beginning to wonder if she backed the wrong horse with Stannis. We know that the priests of the Lord of Light seem to have the ability to raise the dead, or grant some form of immortality. I'd be willing to put money on Jon Snow being saved by Melisandre's magic, allowing further Azhor Azhai shenanigans to ensue.

The problem here is that in the books, when Jon is betrayed, Melisandre is still at Castle Black. In the series, she's with Stannis on the march to Winterfell.

In the season 5 finale, you see Melisandre back in Castle Black talking to Davos.

Oh, good! Then maybe my fan-theory can still hold some water! :D

Heh, everyone is trying to downvote his incorrect post but no one has enough comment karma to do it...

Or maybe that's just me.

I was actually thinking this exact same thing except he never turns his back on the Ice army. I mean, after all, that would mean the good guys would win and GRRM and D&D can't be having that!

There is absolutely no reason why this would happen, and it certainly won't happen that way in the books.

So it's probably a shoe-in for the TV show.

Good theory. Does anyone know if he's on the set of the new season?

Or an epic 1v1 dragon fight between Jon on the undead Viserion and Daenerys
