My Jon Snow theory's eggs are all in one basket and that's Azor Ahai. I think it seems a little easier to pick up on when watching the show. Kit Harrington just picked up a new contract in which he receives a big raise for season 7. So when he says "Jon Snow is dead", I believe that. Jon needed to die for Azor Ahai to be reborn. All the pieces, especially Melisandre's timing, fit together for it to be Jon (that is if you're like me and think that Eddard is not Jon's father, but rather Jon is the bastard son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen). Kit Harrington will return in season 6 and 7 but not as Jon Snow.
EDIT: The more I delve into this theory the more I think Jon Snow and Aegon Targaryen may actually be the same person and Ned has kept him in hiding all these years as his bastard son. That would mean that if Rhaegar and Lyanna were secretly wed to keep the Targaryen bloodline alive then Jon would be the rightful heir to the throne.
I think you're right that john snow is the offspring of lyanna and rhaegar. In the book it says that when Ned and his companions confront the remainder of the Kings guard during the fight they hear lyanna screaming (which could have been from child birth) and the promise she could have made Ned swear would be to hide john from Robert whom she feared would try to kill all targarean remnants? He would have returned john to winterfell hiding John as his bastard. This would also explain why Ned never told catelyn about johns mother.
I was actually thinking this exact same thing except he never turns his back on the Ice army. I mean, after all, that would mean the good guys would win and GRRM and D&D can't be having that!
