That's 11,088,000 feet. If you put one solider every 10 feet then that's 1,108,800 positions on the border. Each position would need to be staffed by 3 8 hour shifts, 7 days a week, giving 23,284,800 shifts.
You'd need 4,767,840 soldiers manning a post 40 hours a week for 24/7 coverage.
Our current active duty military numbers only 1,281,900 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Armed_Forces
Interesting suggestion. The human wall around the Mexican border as opposed to the wall would be more realistic, but I don't know if there is a need to do it everywhere else. It's the only border I know where undocumented folks cross over. Most people have a port of entry, and then have to apply for status, generally refugee status. Crossing over illegally, if you're found out, is a 10 year bar from staying in the states. If you do it twice, it's a permanent bar. We have pretty strict immigration laws in place in the states overall.
Also, you gonna watch the debate tonight?

Mobilize the military totally closing our borders, use grunts as meat shields, and forced quartering of military on native rez? Chill out there Kim Jung Un, lets put that down as plan B
This.
I have wanted to see this for a while now. It would make excellent training. They get rotated around enough to prevent bribery, and they also get to learn how to detain people. It would make one hell of an extreme weather training billet.

The fence is a good talking point but in reality it'll never ever fly. Which worries me because he's smart enough to know that.

Who lied to you? Anyone who believes that is a fool.
