I'll stick around. I feel like my comments might actually get read around here. Makes me want to type more of the up.

Lol. Ass. Me and you, we might end up good friends.

I'm on both really. I am not really upset about the reddit stuff but I also see potential here so I want to check it out. My only concern at this point is the site performance, which is being worked on.

Most of the reason I'm here is to spite reddit and rejoin my community. I never want to go back to that site. Voat has a lot of potential. The only thing I hope they come out with soon is a mobile app. I do most of my browsing at work and it's just easier to use an app.

There are a few out there already: Versa, Vulcan and Boats for Votes. The apps are pretty rudimentary at the moment though, only Boats allows you to login and comment as far as i know.

I never liked Reddit and rarely used it. You can't even look at the ugly mess of a site. It is so mid 2000's. Blue links? Meme after meme? Pun after Pun? That's all it is.
I tried to upload a trailer doc, did not mark it TRAILER, they had a big discussion between mods on it and when someone mentioned VOAT and I said I would take a look there to see if I could upload my Doc trailer I IMMEDIATELY got a message I was banned from documentaries.

I can see an inherent flaw with the idea that all Redditors who migrate will be satiated with their experience here. There's a huge lack of content comparably and to be honest, I think many will just visit both sites until the Voat community grows large enough that it is truly a good substitute. It has more potential for growth than Reddit at this point. The U.I. is far better in many respects including, but not limited to, chat interface, voting system, upvote limits (debatable), etc. Also, the lack of censorship thus far has appealed to many. If I was savvy enough with modern social media to deem Reddit a good investment of my money, I would be shitting myself. And, dependent on how the next few months play out I would look to take my investment capitol to a different project.

The upvoat/downvoat counter makes me stay forever.
Also, the community seems much better here than it was on reddit. Mainly because reddit was crowded with people, and you could rarely have your own opinion expressed and noticed. But here, you can do that. And because it's in alpha it makes you contribute more. Feels good.

Ye I have the same feeling!

I feel similar. Reddit has gotten a bit too bloated. Every comment thread is the same lame pun train that never stops.
Voat threads feel a bit more fresh in comparison.

Can't agree with you more, I mainly lurked on Reddit and had an account for 3 years. I have probably contributed more to Voat in 4 days than I have in Reddit in 3 years. Plus I'm motivated to get my upvoat restriction removed :)

I'm working on getting my downvoats, so I can help silence the trolls...
But I like upvoating too!
