I have been actively searching for an alternative to Reddit since about august of 2014. The sheer amount of poorly spliced, recycled and overall ignorant content was becoming a bit much. All that in addition to /r/funny & /r/pics essentially becoming Facebook pt2, Over-moderation, obviously racist and violent subs being allowed to stay while others were banned just sent me over the edge.

I plan on staying while still using the smaller subreddits until another migration occurs. I am just glad there is an alternative.

Exactly this! I recently came across subreddits where they would post pics of people that were dead or had been murdered, or dead babies.. some subreddits were really really sick..

I am going to transition to Voat for my usual relaxation/infogathering purposes, but still visit the smaller community subreddits until the Voat versions become large enough to make those obsolete too.l

Somehow, I find this website much more refreshing than Reddit. I think I'll stay here for a bit, but chances are I'll visit both sites till Voat can build up enough content that can keep me here permanently.

Voat has a lot of potential though! I like the chatterbox at side, although I haven't seen anyone use it yet. I think it's a good idea though, for small questions and things that don't actually require a new thread being made.

I dunno. I was getting a bit bored of reddit, and coming here feels like something fresh.

Work blocked reddit so I am here until they block this site.

My staying depends on how the community grows. You can't "join" reddit, you make an account and make comments that will be drowned out by everyone else who has been there for longer than you. Voat is small enough that doesn't happen, and the community makes it sound like that won't happen. I plan on staying for a while, especially since reddit is probably going to shrink anyways now.

I plan on staying. This place gives me a chance to submit content and not just be ignored or down-voted to hell. Reddit's censorship also just pissed me off. I believe in freedom of expression and access to information. I understand they are a private corporation and can run the site as they will. But I also do not have to support them if our values do not align. Plus, they took away FPH, which was one of the biggest reasons I even used the site. There are plenty of cat pictures here as well to keep me satisfied.

Admittedly I've been slowly making this my new go to for online entertainment but I still find myself going to Reddit for the videos and ffxiv subreddits. I mainly visit those because the ffxiv sub is more active over there and videos because it's hard to break a habit.
