I am going to transition to Voat for my usual relaxation/infogathering purposes, but still visit the smaller community subreddits until the Voat versions become large enough to make those obsolete too.l

I have been actively searching for an alternative to Reddit since about august of 2014. The sheer amount of poorly spliced, recycled and overall ignorant content was becoming a bit much. All that in addition to /r/funny & /r/pics essentially becoming Facebook pt2, Over-moderation, obviously racist and violent subs being allowed to stay while others were banned just sent me over the edge.

I plan on staying while still using the smaller subreddits until another migration occurs. I am just glad there is an alternative.

Exactly this! I recently came across subreddits where they would post pics of people that were dead or had been murdered, or dead babies.. some subreddits were really really sick..

I'd like to switch permanently if possible, just depends on if it can get active and populated enough here.

The community from what I've seen so far does seem much better, but that may just be because of how small it is comparatively, will just have to see what happens i guess.

I lurked for a long time and created my account a little before the Exodus.

I am not going back to reddit, I find here to be way better. It is not only the matter of censorship (which I find very important) but also the community here seams better, the discussions are more interesting. I really hope that Voat does not becomes reddit 2.0, with threads filled with puns and silly jokes that add nothing, instead of actual discussion.

As long as there's people and content I'm staying here. I go on reddit to see anything crazy happening

I think I will stick around. I would like to see a larger community using the site (which I think will come now that the servers are stable), but not to the degree of reddit. Additionally I already like the layout of this site better. Despite is being so similar to reddit, it feels more polished. I just hope the similarities don't land it a trip to court. I know the code was from scratch, but I'm not sure how that will play in court.

I want to stick around, and for Voat to work out, but in order for that to happen we need to work on some things, starting with site performance. Also, I believe the reason reddit obfuscated its upvote-downvote counter was to prevent spammers from knowing if their posts were working. What are we doing here to prevent spam before it starts?

Other that that, Voat feels like a more welcoming, tight-knit community. I like it.
