Well, I'm mildly for including chess at Olympics, but it should be more dynamic/attractive for general public (no 3 hours long matches).
On unrelated note: the CSS here doesn't go well with Voat's night mode...

When is a sub considered inactive/abandoned?
While Voat is in alpha, we will be freeing up unused/inactive subs by deleting them or transferring them to users who submit a subverse transfer request in /v/subverserequest. As a subverse owner, at least once a month, you should start at least one discussion in your sub, or submit at least one link to your sub. Furthermore, at least once a month, you should submit at least one comment to a discussion/link posted in your sub. If you fail to do anything of the above, your sub will be considered as abandoned/inactive and it may be deleted or transferred to another user which makes a request in /v/subverserequest.
Do it!

I gotta say "no." In my mind, the olympics have always been about athletics. If chess is included, then e-sports could reasonably be included.
Of course, there is always the argument that the olympics is for competitions that do not have a world stage elsewhere. I suppose the up and coming e-sports competitions fill that role, but for whatever reason when I read this article all I could think was "Chess is not a sport."

I love watching e-sports. I play way too much right now, and watching gamers who are in the top 1% do it is something amazing.
However.
The olympics, man. Bodies trained to superhuman levels. People gifted with that one little genetic mutation, that next little step in human physical evolution. Every year, there's one or two that the media and the fans zoom in on. And it's not for their minds, or their personility, or even really their looks. It because of the way they have developed themselves. It's a visual thing.
And then there is chess.
