About the only thing this mysterious "they" can do is feck with the root DNS servers and Domain sales. We, as a country or as individuals, can spin up alternative DNS servers and registries in minutes.
The internet was designed to survive nukes. We can route around idiotic UN bureaucrats. And when (not if) they start going the inevitable route of petty dictators we can start throwing up mesh networks. You can probably put together a raspberry pi node and antenna for ~$30. You can also turn every phone into a mobile node (see the serval project app for example).
TL;DR: This actually may be fun.

You are assuming The US government would want to. The UN wants to police what they call "hate speech". The US could never do this on their own, but if an international body did it for them, outside of their jurisdiction they could just choose to accept it rather then do anything to prevent it.
Edit: I read the first half of your message and replied before I finished reading. I understand that those of us who are technically capable will be able to route around international censorship attempts. Most people however are not technologically capable of doing do on their own. I think this is t threat due to the ignorance of the vast majority of the population.

I'm assuming that most of the US government is going to be goosestepping right along with the UN. I can throw up a DNS server in minutes.
And we can make building out a mesh network can be as simple as "buy this - plug it in - open the antenna - connect to its wifi". Instant freedom-net for normies.

I care but everybody with an IQ smaller then there shoe size will not. We have nothing to worry about will be the buzz word. So this is the October surprise, and probably one of many. When all of alt right talk radio, and the alt left "talk" radio unite to say nothing or little thereof we are screwed.

*writes down a couple alternative DNS addresses*
okey dokey faggots, have fun
[–] Bigz_Sarducci ago
@Fagtardicus: Well alternative DNS addresses will go away just as much as TOR sites and etc so good luck with that there PePe.

This is the same dumbfuck who was against net neutrality as he didn't even fucking understand it. He does not understand this either.

How is Breitbart considered in any way credible?
Don't just downvote, explain, which is going to be hard to do because they have been caught using the same tricks the "MSM" does.
Remember, you're superior to redditors...
All these downvotes and no answers about why they are a reputable source.

Please link examples when claiming something as true.

You did make an interesting point about posting using HuffPo as a source and getting downvoted in your replies to the OP. I wish everyone would exercise critical thinking regarding any and all info they read online. Which really turns the issue from trusting specific sources and deeming them reputable towards encouraging everyone to think critically and stop downvoting sources they dont like.

find the examples yourself, it's easy, if you're not indoctrinated.

Breitbart is just reporting what the FCC Commissioner said. Regardless how you feel about Breitbart, ICANN no longer being under US jurisdiction opens up the way for worldwide internet censorship.
