My earliest memory is one of my neighbors had the Pong console with the dial controllers. Something like this: http://www.richardlagendijk.nl/foto/cip/computer_2000k_01.jpg
Some wire frame tank game on my dad's atari. Also remember playing mario brothers that was the mini pow game from Mario 3 at the level start.
I remember the atari died not too long after i first got it and my parents saw how much i enjoyed it so they got me an NES which kept me happy for a few years until one christmas when i was surprised with a Genesis.

I guess my earliest gaming memory would be when my dad, sister and I were sat around the SNES attempting to complete a Zelda game (unsure what one) - I remember we spent hours on that game, still unsure whether we ever completed it.

Honestly, my earliest memory IS of gaming... I remember being a toddler (around 3) and sitting on my mother's lap. I was telling her what I wanted the guy on the screen to do while she typed the commands into the keyboard and I worked the arrow keys. I would make the guy walk over and gleefully shout that I wanted him to kick the pumpkin. This was around 1993 and I was (we were) playing Hugo's House of Horrors.

Playing Super Mario Bros 2 with friends. I had no idea what to do and got super excited to play that when you chose a character you're supposed to raise your hand by pressing up. Well, I didn't know that. They just said, okay raise your hand to pick your character.
I got the controller, and I raised my hand.
