First game for me was Islands of Danger. It was a relatively simple game I played on a Kaypro 8088. Basically, you piloted a hovercraft ( that looked somewhat amazingly like an hourglass! ) through various islands destroying missile sites without being blown up yourself. It was a lot of fun. It wasn't long after that when I was introduced to ZZT. That game was amazing, and killed many hours of my life as a child.

My first memory was when I was with my much older nephews at a family reunion. It was the early 90s and they all hovered over the computer. The were playing a diving game. (Like diving from a board into the pool) You had to jump down and try to do cool moves. I found it entertaining. When you missed the pool, you'd go straight trough the concrete. (cartoon-style) Good times!

No one seems to know this one, but the first game I vividly remember playing is Pandora's Box, a PC puzzle game with amazing art and several brilliant stories from around the world.
I remember playing a sonic game for the Sega game gear. I don't remember it's name but, I remember I could never beat the boss of the first level. I still played it over and over again. The boss was Doctor Eggman in his hover craft. He would shoot bouncing balls that I could never dodge. I haven't played it since I was very young.

I'm not sure which I encountered first.
Beast on a PC at school or Super Mario Bros. on NES at a friend's house.
