My first memory was when I was with my much older nephews at a family reunion. It was the early 90s and they all hovered over the computer. The were playing a diving game. (Like diving from a board into the pool) You had to jump down and try to do cool moves. I found it entertaining. When you missed the pool, you'd go straight trough the concrete. (cartoon-style) Good times!

First game for me was Islands of Danger. It was a relatively simple game I played on a Kaypro 8088. Basically, you piloted a hovercraft ( that looked somewhat amazingly like an hourglass! ) through various islands destroying missile sites without being blown up yourself. It was a lot of fun. It wasn't long after that when I was introduced to ZZT. That game was amazing, and killed many hours of my life as a child.

I'm not sure which I encountered first.

Beast on a PC at school or Super Mario Bros. on NES at a friend's house.

Mine is weird - "Dizzy Egg" - a fucking old MS Dos game. It woul dhave been like 1992-1994 when I played this with my mum on an old Amstrad PC.

That and another Dos game called "Stargoose".

From there we moved onto the free demos on the Windows 95 CD-ROM - Hover and Hellrider.

Wow, I don't know. I guess I was 3 when Sonic the Hedgehog came out. I was able to beat it by 4. I started playing before that but I don't have memories that far back. I guess the oldest thing I can remember is the level select code, but I learned it incorrectly. I always thought it was A B C up down left right Hold A and press start. Turns out the A B C part isn't part of the code...I didn't learn that until my 20s.

It had to be either Pagemaster or Star fox on the SNES for me. First modern game was Halo, on Sidewinder
