My earliest gaming memory would be watching my dad play games like B17 Bomber on his Intellivision. While I remember trying to play the Intellivision myself, I was too young to actually comprehend the goals of the games and just moved around and died. My first real experience with gaming where I could actually play the game would be when I got an NES in the early 90's playing Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt.
Playing Track & Field for the NES on the Power Pad. Three games on one cartridge came with the system, Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt and Track & Field. The late 80's were fun. http://imgur.com/lYkxx1Q
My earliest memory of gaming is watching my friend play Pokemon Red at his house in '99. He was in Cerulean City, but hadn't yet beaten Erika. We ended up watching the anime series too, it was an episode where they were all at the beach. About a month later I got both Red and Blue at my Grandparents, which I also remember quite vividly.

Mine would have to be Runescape and Pokemon Emerald. I loved both of them because it felt like you were actually exploring a world instead of just going in a linear direction (though more so in Runescape than Pokemon).
I loved the way Jagex did quests, because they felt like actual stories (complete with foreshadowing and callbacks to other quests), instead of just saying "Bring me nine bear asses."
Dragon Warrior on my NES. English is my second language (Spanish being my first one) and an aunt got me Dragon Warrior, in English, on a trip to the US. I was like 6 or 7 years old and I was so confused with the game but I still managed to finish it. That game helped me a lot in learning the language and it got me interested in the RPG genre =).

I remember, after my report card came out and I had gotten all A's, my dad took me across the street to our neighbor's house. The neighbor sold my dad their family's Nintendo for $20, including Ninja Gaidan! His kids had failed two classes each. I guess this was some kind of dad conspiracy to teach us all a lesson about how important it is to do well in school, but all it really taught me is that kids are jerks and that you're going to get beat up at the bus stop for "stealing" their Nintendo.
That's my earliest memory. My favorite memory, though, would be saving up my allowance for most of the year, and then buying the SNES bundled with A Link to the Past. I had never even heard of the series before, but after the first night playing it, I would get up two hours early before school everyday to play it in the basement, then sneak back upstairs so my dad could wake me up to get ready for school.
