waking up on christmas with my older brother, running downstairs and opening up a brand new SNES, with like 10 games and the big giant gun they had for a hot minute (that never worked right for us). We played Super Mario World for like the next week as much as we were allowed and still barely made it past the second set of levels. We eventually let our neighbors borrow the game for like a week once we got tired of failing. When we got it back they had beat the entire thing and then my mother deleted it because she wanted us to do it ourselves.

**edit: i was maybe 5 and my brother was 7

Standing on a milk crate playing Space Invaders while waiting for our pizza at a pizza joint. I still hate that game.

I remember when I was about five or six, I was really sick and couldn't get out of bed. I guess my dad felt really bad about it and went in our attic to find the NES Super Mario/Duck Hunt game.

It totally blew my mind I could move stuff ON THE TV! That and I could point the gun and shoot down the ducks. Good times

Typing a BASIC program from a magazine into the Comodore 64 we got for Xmas. Sprites chasing each other across the screen or something, the memory is a little pixelated.

Actually, I take that back, my grandparents had a PONG system, lots of Atari 2600 time over the years, never mind the stand-up game time, having to get quarters together and bike down to the local arcade.

First game for me was Islands of Danger. It was a relatively simple game I played on a Kaypro 8088. Basically, you piloted a hovercraft ( that looked somewhat amazingly like an hourglass! ) through various islands destroying missile sites without being blown up yourself. It was a lot of fun. It wasn't long after that when I was introduced to ZZT. That game was amazing, and killed many hours of my life as a child.

My sisters and I would wake up at 5am before school so we could play battle mode Mario Kart 64.

Playing Summer Olympics on an Apple II - I was absolute garbage at it, but that and Zork really instilled a love for gaming in me early.

Opening my NES Christmas morning and losing my mind. I got really confused too because I thought it was supposed to come with a TV because all the advertisements I saw had kids playing on a TV...I donno I was like 4. Anyways mine didn't come with one obviously After my parents explained that all I had to do was hook it up to our current TV I continued freaking out.

That being said I remember another big moment in my life was when my dad told me my mom was pregnant I was going to have a brother. I can not remember the name of the game I was playing tho and it's driving me crazy now. I thought it was something like Fantasy Island or something or something along those lines. Pretty sure the word Island was in it somewhere. It was very similar to Super Mario at the time. just a regular platform game. Any help on figuring out the name would be great haha.
