Wow, I don't know. I guess I was 3 when Sonic the Hedgehog came out. I was able to beat it by 4. I started playing before that but I don't have memories that far back. I guess the oldest thing I can remember is the level select code, but I learned it incorrectly. I always thought it was A B C up down left right Hold A and press start. Turns out the A B C part isn't part of the code...I didn't learn that until my 20s.
I can't quite remember what I played FIRST. Though one of my oldest gaming memories, which has a chance at being my first and also one of the games inflated the most, is UT99. Loved me some BT, MH, and sniper TDM. Low grav insta gib in UT04, and Invasion. But 99 wins in time spent playing, easy.

I have extremely vague memories of playing Super Mario Bros. on NES when I was about 4 or 5. Otherwise playing Super Mario World is my first true gaming memory.

My earliest memory comes from high school; there was an Apple Macintosh in the Tech & Shop classroom, and one of the programs on it was a game called Spectre.
It was a lot like the old BattleZone arcade game (which I know about thanks mainly to the Best of Microsoft Arcade compilations).
Some wire frame tank game on my dad's atari. Also remember playing mario brothers that was the mini pow game from Mario 3 at the level start.
I remember the atari died not too long after i first got it and my parents saw how much i enjoyed it so they got me an NES which kept me happy for a few years until one christmas when i was surprised with a Genesis.

Duck Hunt and Ernie's Big Splash. In Big Splash you had to connect pipes and get the rubber ducky to Ernie's bathtub, playing that game is one of my earliest memories I have, I had to have been 3 or 4 years old.
