My earliest memory comes from high school; there was an Apple Macintosh in the Tech & Shop classroom, and one of the programs on it was a game called Spectre.
It was a lot like the old BattleZone arcade game (which I know about thanks mainly to the Best of Microsoft Arcade compilations).

I love this question. I was too young to remember coherently, but it's either secret of monkey island or day of the tentacle. My elders all ways had a Lucas arts adventure game on when ever I was at their house. I remember clearly the jokes wild art style and clever writing even from that age I was hooked.
Those early memories have effected my choice in games ever since. It's the story for me I could care less about multiplayer or achievements of the story isn't griping and the characters believable I just don't find the game that engaging. As a side note I remember when I knew online multiplayer was going to be awesome. I was playing crackdown with a friend and as I stole a truck he ran in to a cross junction screaming justice while carrying a lamp post them out of no where we gets crushed by a lorry and we break our hearts laughing.
I remember my first clan, the first time a online friend died and how I had no idea how to deal with that, meeting my idols and loosing faith in games and the culture. It's been such an awesome hobby and I can't wait to grow old with games and see what's next.

Pac-Man on the Atari 2600. Although I am sure that I had arcade games before that.

Mine too. I can still remember the sounds that start the map perfectly, including the first couple of seconds of the pattern I would use to eat pellets.

My cousins back in Russia playing Tetris. I had to be like two years old.

The earliest game I recall playing is 007: Nightfire on a PC. I distinctly remember telling my friends about it and how realistic it looks like. "Almost as it is a movie", I remember saying.

One was Star Trek - all text on a terminal type screen
I remember playing that game at a local university computer center. But, I haven't been able to find a current playable version of that same game.
Do you know where that code resides? Are there any current versions of that specific game?

I have extremely vague memories of playing Super Mario Bros. on NES when I was about 4 or 5. Otherwise playing Super Mario World is my first true gaming memory.
