My theory here is first shift second shift. Some guy wakes the knocker up at night and he does some kind of night work that ends by waking people up. Just a thought.

Interesting in that it shows how jobs should go obsolete due to technology. I'm sure we have all complained about some poor souls getting replaced by technology in the past, but at some point it becomes necessary. I wonder what would have happened if they had a knocker-up union.

This is different than people being replaced by low cost labor from shit hole countries.
