I tryed one at Costco that they had for like a month that I really liked, you had to keep it frozen and it had large slices of roast chicken and a decent amount of veggies and a very rich broth. Forget the brand name but it was labeled as Tokyo style ramen, it was the best I've tryed so far.

As far as instant ramen, this is my favorite, kimchi ramen. I get it at an Asian market that has an entire aisle of just ramen.

Edit: after a short search I found the Tokyo style ramen , good stuff do try if you get the chance.

Sapporo Miso ramen with Asahikawa noodles! Tetsuya is awesome!

Next up is the tonkotsu thick lard style.

In don't like Shoyu styles! Your basic salt (shio) style will 90% of the time will let know how good a shop or stand is.

For those of you just starting the ramen journey watch the movie called Tampopo by Juzo Itami. It's a comedy but the facts behind good ramen are solid!

Soup should be hot, noodles firm, soup and noodles must compliment each and the chashu (pork) should be savory and almost melt in your mouth.

Expertise: I spent 20 years trying out some of the best shops where I lived in Japan.

Soy sauce, pork, and miso flavor are the traditional main Japanese flavors. To me it's a toss up between soy sauce and pork.

Spicy BBQ or chicken I would boil it, then fry it up with some almost expired $2 meat that was on sale, and if I were lucky I'd add some root vegetables, and that would be my meal of the day... Yeaaaars later and I can still taste the salt and feel the pain in my body :/
