Let me put it this way, it's everything the Sim City reboot should have been.

  • Huge amounts of available land for your cities
  • Robust and simple creation tools
  • A shitload of customization options
  • Hassle-free mod support
  • No always-online bullcrap

In short, if you like city-building games, then Cities:Skylines will prove itself to be everything a city builder should be. You won't regret it.

It's such a great game. Bought it day 1 and haven't regretted it at all. It's also one of those games, even when you're done with it, you never know if you return maybe in 3 or 6 months and play another binge for a week or two. The Steam workshop adds a great arsenal of tools and assets to the game, so it makes your building options even more powerful.

Since it's on Steam sale since yesterday, I haven't stopped promoting this game to all my buddies who enjoy those kinds of games. Very well spent money and the developer totally deserves it!

I was gifted it not too long after it came out, and as a person who is only casually into city simulators, I found myself loving it, especially with the availability of mods for almost any purpose. My favorite time playing the game was when I downloaded a map that was a chain of islands, connected the islands with dams, and used tons of water pumps to empty the ocean in between all of the islands. I then built a bustling metropolis, complete with thriving industry and some very wealthy suburbs. Then I destroyed the dams. The game didn't come with any real natural disasters, so I had to make my own.

I feel like its way more accessible than sim city. And I don't think I've ever had as much fun in sim city as I do in skylines just building highways. I also like how when you lay down road it shows you blockage of where to zone.

I love the open nature of it's developers. It really helps make a great community around the game.

I bought this game due to the hype surrounding it, but it turned out that I am not a city builder - at all.

I love Skylines, but it kills my potato computer. The problem is once I get a good city of 50k+ going, my game will start randomly crashing just because my PC can't handle it. It reminds me of SimCity 4, albeit it feels considerably easier in many ways, if more limited at the start. The way you can design cities is just beautiful, though. It's as if the new SimCity game decided to stop being bad. I would like to see disasters, though. Volcanoes, earthquakes, forest fires, riots, tornadoes, etc.
