Never heard of him. Total stranger.

Srsly though, the title of "Killing An Arab" by The Cure was inspired by events in Camus' The Stranger.

Damn thank you for reminding me. How is this not the theme for the grunts?

What an amazing song title, I'm just slightly disappointed that it's not about killing Arabs in general.

That's gotta be my favorite song by The Cure.

Camus was one of the only French intellectuals at the time who condemned violence on both sides of the French-Algerian conflict. Everyone on the right supported French violence and everybody on the left supported Arab violence. The Stranger was based on his idea that the only time killing can be guilt-free is when a man does it without premeditation.

That's a contradiction since most (normal) people are now overweight.

Some people put a lot of time and energy into overeating, so I'm not sure if it's a complete contradiction.

That's just deathfats though, skinny-fats aren't really trying at all.

Perhaps my favourite philosopher. I'd recommend his The Rebel to anyone.

The contents of that work may be very relevant for us all before long.

Creative people have considerable difficulty in stifling their creativity. They do it with a thoughtlessness on par with breathing. Then they get punished for it when they do it in places that demands conformity and orthodoxy. Then they start checking everything they say and do, which is exhausting.

The specific context is going to be a bitch to find, since it's from his private notebooks.

My interpretation is that he's referring to the habit of over thinking normal social situations. Instead of relaxing and doing what comes naturally, you might be consciously reminding yourself to act normal, smile at appropriate times, nod, and maintain appropriate body language. Naturally this takes a lot of energy, which is why introverted people tend to feel exhausted after a lot of socializing.

doing what comes naturally

For those people, it does not come naturally
