Anti-Semite vs Islamophobe

Well, the term "Anti-Semite" refers to someone who is against Jews and Arabs (Semitic peoples) for no other reason than their ethnic background. But the use of the term, "Islamophobe", to smear someone suggests an irrational and wrong-headed fear of Islam and what Islam is about.

So "Islamophobe" is certainly a term on the way out the door to the dump. Even Trevor Phillips who coined the term 20 years ago to disparage those that protested the Islamification of Britain now regrets having invented this neologism, says that the critics of Islam were mostly right and that Islam will not integrate, will instead attempt to conquer the surrounding society.

But the term "Anti-Semite" fails to maintain its power because it lacks a core-moral legitimacy. Being against someone only on the basis of their ethnic background, something that one does not choose, fails the test of holding one to account -only- for what they, themselves, are responsible for.

The West is GREAT only because of such fair-minded notions of personal accountability and the personalization of responsibility.
