Where did he say, "women take things personally"?

I think OP interprets "when you criticize them they cry," as taking it personally.

Exactly. If you speak your mind, (no matter what anybody says) hold your ground. Even if it's a shitty opinion, if a minority of the public is against you, fuck it. You got to that position, not them. You can feel free to say whatever the hell you like.

EDIT: That's not to say I agree with the guy in the article; I don't. But still.

If he deserved a reprimand for what he said, having to work with the women of the university would probably be a more fitting punishment. Political expediency may well have helped that sly motherfucker dodge a bullet.

After being recognized for his groundbreaking work on cell division, he is now being recognized for his groundbreaking work on gender division.

I think it's less about women in particular and more about this politically correct culture we all find ourselves living in that leads to one "crying when criticized.

It's unfortunate that he was forced to resign, our society should separate an individual's work from his/her politics or his/her less than favorable opinions. His questionably sexist comment will amount to more news coverage than his scientific achievement, and that is the sad reality of the world we live in. Sensationalist controversy triumphs over scientific discovery every time... its driven by passion and much simpler to comprehend.

The worst part is that, whether or not his comment is right or wrong, is irrelevant to the public eye.

It's disgusting that people will take any comments that are at all negative towards their general populous, and take great offense, as well as create and unneeded uproar. Let sleeping dogs lie. If you disagree, be vocal, tell them you do, but don't force them into resignation.

Goddamn...

Nope. Silencing dissent and protecting feelings is much more important than any future contributions a Nobel Prize-level genius could make to his field.

I find it ridiculous that this guy had to resign. He's one of the most talented people in his field. The work of a Nobel Laureate is more important than the women's feelings.

He said "when you criticize them they cry". Now I don't know how he said it; his tone matters a lot, but please stop editorializing titles. Let's not become reddit, ok?

Meanwhile, just a few months ago Melvin Konner publishes Women After All, a book about how women are biologically superior. You can find it at Barnes & Noble.
