Well, who knows what's truth. People will abuse any system and for all we know, this is a scam because any evidence is probably long gone and the testimony was a key factor.

So, it sucks if it's the truth, but it could also be a lie to get out of prison.

Man spent 28 years in prison after his friend accused him of murder. Now, the friend said he lied. - The Washington Post

"David Bollinger, Small’s childhood friend who was the key witness against him in the 1988 trial, contacted the North Carolina Center on Actual Iocence with a shocking admission."

"Though it is unclear why, this led police to Bollinger, according to the Star."

"For the past 28 years, Small sat in prison while the life he could have led slipped slowly away."

"Bollinger said Small left the store wearing a different shirt."

"Bollinger said he lied on the stand in 1988, and he doesn’t think Small killed anyone."
