Also, I don't really see any issue with the 'word wrap' on titles.
[This] is comfortable on my eyes as I don't have to scan

I am not sure about you, but I feel that 848 pixels is enough width, perhaps it is not the conventional 960 pixels wide, but it is pretty close.

On the contrary: The container has already been widened to a good length.[1] Increasing the width would break some things that would cost time and resources to fix that's not worth what little merit it might have.

I completely disagree. The container layout has been in place for more than eight months[2] and it is not going away. Therefore, it is the CSS creator's problem if their stylesheet doesn't work with the container layout.
