Mississippi and Louisiana have always ranked high for low ranking schools. However, I wouldn't be surprised that if we delved deeper into this study we would find that Mississippi and Louisiana both have astronomically high numbers of single female headed households, crime, and social welfare dependency.
Yep. They're gibsmedat states. Surprisingly, Louisiana has more crime than Mississippi, but I think it's based on the rural nature of Mississippi. There's Jackson and the Gulf Coast region. Other than that Mississippi is a bunch of pine trees growing in orange dirt.
