Project Gutenburg is probably the largest online collection.

I appreciate it!

Archive.org also has some old texts. If you're interested in old scientific, medical, and social stuff, the Royal Society is also a good place. They have posted 350 years of their journal publication.

If you really don't mind where you go, I think you should give your local library another go. If you really can't find anything, ask the librarian.
Another route would be to go to yard sales, estate sales and thrift stores. Old hard cover books are 10 cents an INCH at the place I go to. They stack whatever books up and then measure the spines and that's how they charge.
That project Gutenberg is the only place I know of online, but that's because I just like reading actual books instead of digital stuff. It's a great way to simulate your mind while still feeling 'unplugged.'

There's a lot of stuff on the Internet Sacred Text Archive. Most of this stuff may be already covered by Project Gutenburg but I'm not sure.

I may have to swap over. I'm currently on a windows phone... and I dislike it, but I paid for it so I will be using it until it runs itself down.

Archive.org is another great resource of old books, even including foreign language ones like Augustin Krämers German reports about 19th century Samoa or the original Mein Kampf.

Get membership of a copyright library and you'll be set for life!
(I'm (still) a member of Bodley, and it's never let me down.)

That was quick. And awesome. Just clicking around a bit and I find a decent amount of 404's... but it seems there is a lot here.
Much appreciated. :)
