'truths' such as the threat of Islam, the dangers of obesity, and the diffrence in IQs based on race and logic, while usually valid, completely dominate the site. Even posts that have nothing to do with these subjects usually, somehow, are taken over by these topics or a limited handful of others.

I've been a member for 1.5 years. This has been going on ever since I joined. I blocked /v/news and /v/politics probably around 10-12 months ago for the reasons you mentioned, but they ended up becoming palatable again for the most part within the last couple of months..so I unblocked them.

If you've actually been here for over a year and actively reading and participating, you would realize that this is currently much better than what parts of the "defaults" used to be.

I knew you would say that.

A discussion goes, point, counter point. Not point, insult. That helps no one and just adds to the problem

People that don't fight the problems are part of the problem. Nothing stopping you from stepping up and dropping some truth bombs on some idiots. Maybe you not too good at making arguments and shit though, you can still upvoat people that are fighting the good fight in your place.

In the end you either do your part or fuck off.

You speak in terms of reddit vs voat, maybe it's more that there are few places people can actually say how they feel with out being shot down and labeled.
Most sites ban anything they don't approve of (see twitters recent actions) so when yet do finally find some place I vent or speak their mind it all comes out rather than being held back because the more it's bottled up it doesn't dissapear it just compounds it, regardless of it society thinks it's there or not.

NOTE: The OP never said he sided with the Left. Sounds to me like he's on the Right, but just doesn't want to read our circlejerk comments on here. I don't either, because the Right already shares my informed opinion. I don't need to hear a bunch of parrots squawking my own opinion back at me. Sure, I get a kick out of it sometimes, but I'm always open minded and seeking to learn what others' opinions actually are. Anyone who's against censorship shares that trait.

I also came to Voat because of the censorship on Reddit, but I knew when I signed up that Voat was FAR from being diverse in opinion. No, it's not r/The_Donald, where I heard about Voat, but there's almost no Left here at all and I didn't expect there to be.

Someday, maybe, but that time is still a long way off.

For now, sit back and enjoy the fact that one can actually find out what's going on without the Left's censorship here at Voat. The DNC leak stuff is a good enough reason alone to love Voat. I cringe to say it, but you can go damn near anywhere else for the Left's side; Reddit, Twitter, Google, or just about any news site.

Don't be too overly eager for the Left to infect this site as they did Reddit and so many others.

"Be careful what you wish for," in other words.

There actually was a lot more left leaning people here before the hate subs got banned from reddit. Voat used to be a lot more moderate back then. I imagine some stuck around like myself. But if you even bring it up, prepare for a brigade of "go back to reddit, you cuck!".

Yeah, see, I suspected that was the case after reading the OP's post. Thanks.

Jesus fucking Christ. It's truly a shame that your mother didn't choose to swallow.

The solution to your problem is simple: go fuck yourself.
