No surprise, not to sound like a AndroidMasterRace person but Android kind of has been the bleeding edge of both usefulness and features for a while now at least in my experience.

I am a full out androidmasterrace-er, but when Apple implements things in their OS, they tend to be WAY more polished than the Android version.

Of course, difference between bleeding edge and redundantly testing stuff out before it gets implemented. However I think they sort of skimped on the touch id stuff TBH.

I would totally agree. Android used to be total crap, back in Froyo, and honeycomb days, but even then it was really cool and provided a whole load more features and options over IOS (which could not even change the homescreen background at this point), and it has grown to become very mature and very stable.

And hell the community that surrounds it too. If you don't like stock you can flip to one of the forks of Android that has a completely new set of features and options. If you don't want Google on your device you can have that too. Just the fact that you have options makes it that much cooler.

On the other hand iOS is slowly becoming more and more open. The one flicker of hope that Apple is showing is they're open sourcing Swift. I really do hope they at least open their systems up and stop being so damn money grubbing. Their environment and community would be much better in my own opinion.

Is android snappy and responsive now?

A few years ago I wouldn't touch android because it was noticeably slower than it's Apple counterparts. Swiping to different screens. Scrolling through a webpage. Android was just laggy.

I'm all for customization and the other features android provides. But using did not feel good. Have things changed?

Were you using a Nexus device or something from Samsung maybe?

Touchwiz was really bloated a few years ago. When I got my SGS2 it was slow as hell and felt like garbage. I put Cyanogenmod on it and it was night and day faster.

Vendors like Samsung, HTC, etc all put their own skin over Android. Some are OK, HTC's Sense seems pretty nice on my One, but Touchwiz on my friends Galaxy S5 was really out there.

My cousin just got an iPhone 6 because he felt android was way too laggy. I think he is missing out!

It's good as long as it doesn't have a bloated UI. Most have gotten then back under wraps, but Samsung was about as snappy as an old Volvo with flat tires back in the day.

iOS 9 borrows some of androids good ideas.

What is wrong with that?

Android is based on all the ideas started with iOS.

You are allowed to like both operating systems.

There's no religion here. This is voat. This is. Safe place.

I am a diehard Apple fan. There's no doubting Apple takes existing ideas and implements them into their own products as evidenced in this article. But the resulting product is usually much more polished with a huge focus on usability.

In my opinion, both iOS and Android need to exist because they feed off each other. Consumers always win when healthy competition exists.

As somebody tied into an iPhone contract, I'm glad!

My old Galaxy and Android tablet feel so much better than iOS :(
