Really cool mechanic.

Right? I was like: "why haven't anybody thought of that before?"

I've never seen it implemented with reading, but several RPGs have made your dialogue options (both number of options and grammar / vocabulary) dependent on your intelligence score.

Eh, people have done it. Heck, my little MUD I made does it with languages. You see strings of foreign looking words when you don't understand the language. As you learn it you can get bits and pieces, but still have the odd foreign word here and there until you master the language.

There have to be thousands and thousands of rpg game elements like this that no one has thought of before. The genre is going to look completely dried up, and someone will make a new game that will redefine RPG's completely. Maybe Kingdom Come is that game.

I just keep getting more and more hyped. This game is too cool for words.

I hope they add an option to play without the compass and the map. To add orientation as additional game aspect. I played Firewatch recently, and removing the navigation aid makes the game so much better.

Gimmick.

The word gimmick has such a negative connotation but even the joystick was a gimmick back in the day and look how it revolutionized gaming

I am still buying this game no matter what, because Vavra isn't a pussy that bows down to feminists.

Obligatory Vavra's response to criticism.
[–] smokratez 1 point 7 points 8 points (+8|-1) ago
I'd drink a beer with him. He seems like a good guy.
[–] BiscuitFever 1 point 3 points 4 points (+4|-1) ago
I can't even play games because my graphics card broke, still going to buy this game now lmao.
[–] anoneko 0 points 5 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago
Redpill me, how's this game related to all that?

Basically, there was the crowd of unaffiliated crazy people, usually called Socially Justice Warriors. They often act under impression that by complaining about this or that, they will make minorities' lives easier.
Criticism that I lay on their feet is that calling your congressman and asking about how foreign military operation can protect natives, or donating money to charity dedicated to persuading people to not genitally mutilate girls in horn of Africa can actually do something. Going on social media and complaining that black Barbie doll is cheaper and demand a female character in a film must have certain personality traits is not.
Anyway, people of this ideological persuasion were upset over a funny detail. There are no black people in Kingdom Come! The population of the area is almost 100% white now, you may find a Roma or East Asian immigrant here and there, but don't count on it. I stayed for some time in Prague, the most cosmopolitan city of the Czech Republic, and I saw a black person maybe once or twice. Obviously in 15th century, there would be virtually none, unless a very improbable trader or carnival troupe was passing by. So historically, yeah, you can be pretty sure you would not encounter a black family.
The people living in the period would find Hungarians foreign and alien, and that fact is actually one of the central conflicts in the game.
Anyway, demanding black characters in 15th century Bohemia is as ridiculous as demanding white characters in a game set in 15th century Songhai Empire. Almost comical criticism.
Yet, curiously, the aforementioned bunch managed to raise a pretty big stink around the 'issue.' They tried almost desperately proving the black people lived in 15th century Bohemia. They insulted people left and right. And in the end, they were mocked by the creators themselves.
People following the drama drew some amusement off it all. Later, the SJW crowd moved onto other things to complain, and the integrity of the game setting was not compromised. So, happy ending.

I can try. A lot of game devs kiss sjw ass, and put trannies and niggers in their games to please the retarded pc crowd. The witcher 3 didn't do that and made a lot of money and gamers loved it. Vavra is also from Eastern Europe like the guys that made the witcher and doesn't kiss pc ass. You could probably find some more stuff about it by simply looking up Vavra in a search engine.
