This actually makes sense if you think about it. Assange himself faced baseless allegations of rape in an attempt to discredit his public image. People must not be allowed to silence their political opponents by accusing them of emotionally-charged wrongdoing. Twitter routinely engages in shadowbanning, all of their processes lack transparency, their rules are selectively enforced and even cursory research will show you this discrepancy falls along political lines. I don't know if it's still the case, but Twitter once boasted about being for free speech and if they no longer are, a new platform is needed. Especially if it is a platform that journalists use and take seriously.
