Those that ignore history are destined to repeat it. Back when the US was running the Philippines they were having some trouble with some Moslems there. "Black Jack" Pershing (I don't think he was a general yet) was in charge of the US military there. His soldiers captured 50 of the Moslem "fighters", lined them up by a mass grave and executed 49 of them. Then they slaughtered a bunch of hogs and piled them on top of the dead bodies in the grave and covered them up. He let the 50th prisoner go, so that he could tell others what had happened. They didn't have any Moslem problems in the Philippines for over 50 years.

Speaking of ignorance and history, you realize that this was in all likelihood made up by American media in the 1920's, a decade after the event supposedly happened, right?
There is not one single reputable period source that references it, nor does Pershing himself speak of it in his auto-biography (nor is it mentioned in any biography, or interview with his men at the time). Pershing himself was actually reported as being exceedingly careful with the Moros (the Muslim fighters in the Philippines) as he didn't want to incite any kind of religious uprising prior to the elections in 1912, even going so far as to write an open letter to them in 1911, expressing his sadness at having to engage them in combat at all.
Pershing is on record having written: "I am sorry these Moros are such fools, but ... I shall lose as few men and kill as few Moros as possible."
So, you know, before you chastise others for ignoring history, maybe look up some of it for yourself.

Do soldiers believe desecrating their corpses will keep them from getting to heaven?
[–] 8_billion_eaters 2 points -1 points 1 point (+1|-2) ago
Yes, it would. However, like u/mamwad says, we're supposed to be fighting barbarism...
What should be done is to arrest every member of the terrorist's family and charge them with sedition and conspiracy. Arrest every phone contact (if available) and do the same. Shut down the mosque(s) that any of them attended for a thorough criminal investigation. Do this a few times and they'll stop. ...maybe.

corpses don't have rights. people do. arresting people without due process is barbarism. feeding animals isn't.

I count terrorist mutilation & torture of their victims as barbaric. Every terroristis killing is barbaric as far as I'm concerned. I don't count arrests of suspects as barbaric or arrest and sentencing without due process as barbaric. I consider it logical and proper defense. I don't consider it a game of rights either. It's life and death.

Well, you know....not the pizza guy, but contacts that even have the appearance of suspicion.
...and put the kids with CPS.

Pre-dip all rounds in pig's blood and advertise this to the Musselmen. It supposedly worked well in Indonesia a hundred years ago with the Brits. (Looking for source...)

Bit brutal but you're on to something. I think just as effective is saying all terrorists shot dead during an attack will have their corpse covered in pigs blood. That should solve it automatically.

This is the easiest way to radicalize everyone in the middle east.
