Well they had a 46 million dollar opening weekend so they aren't doing too bad, especially considering Black Mass, which many would call a successful film, only grossed about 62 million total. , and Mad Max, which was definitely a successful film, had a 45 million dollar opening weekend. I doubt it will do Mad Max numbers, but so far it isn't off base.
That said, they haven't even broke even on their cost yet and I promise you they're disappointed with these numbers. The original movie totaled out at over 260 million, but only made $13,578,151 in it's opening weekend, which is about $31,501,310 today, so this remake isn't far off and could potentially match the original.
Edit: Lol downvoted for posting facts against the narrative. Thought I was on Reddit for a minute.

The news media said they had a strong showing for Friday and predictions were for a "healthy" $45 million weekend. Considering moviegoers usually drop off by half in the second week, I doubt this movie comes anywhere close to making make the $145 million cost. The sexism in the movie aside, I just want it to fail because the director and that fat pig shitted on the fans knowing that they'd come back anyway.

Good.
This bullshit is wearing thin with people and I'm very happy about that, although I can't help but think that this is partially the fault of a shitty economy.

I do feel a little bit sorry for Britta.

However, it's probably going to break even, without counting foreign box office.
