They are going to find a way to blame this on the "GhostBros".

Come on. The theater was clearly empty because of piracy and no other reasons what so ever.

I don't think the movie is worth the bandwidth

The news media said they had a strong showing for Friday and predictions were for a "healthy" $45 million weekend. Considering moviegoers usually drop off by half in the second week, I doubt this movie comes anywhere close to making make the $145 million cost. The sexism in the movie aside, I just want it to fail because the director and that fat pig shitted on the fans knowing that they'd come back anyway.

only people who haven't seen kill bill, aliens, or silence of the lambs can make that argument there have been great female leads in all of the genres present in ghostbusters without even getting into comedy

It's the same thing when people claim that gamers are sexist and female video game characters are only sex objects.

What about tomb Raider, remember me, life is strange, mirrors edge or metal gear solid, and that's just off the top of my head.

Went to a 10am showing on Friday. Theater had bodies in, not many. Maybe 30-40 people. But 10am theaters being empty is pretty much why we go to movies at 10am.

This won't be popular, but the movie wasn't bad. It was even pretty good. Some parts (any time Chris Helmsworth was in the scene), were hysterical. I think I gave some heartier laughs at points in this movie than I did in the first two.

The special effects were... meh. This includes not only the obvious effects, but I was more annoyed by the obvious green screening. Particularly Bill Murray's cameo, which could have been eliminated all together.

As for the plot, it's fine for the film. The flow of the film follows the first one pretty closely, establishing the characters as academics and creating the company. The villain and motivations differ, but they're serviceable. For a movie like this, the plot isn't as important as making the whole movie funny, making the stakes something we care about, and making the characters chemistry work well together.

As for the four lead actresses. First, Leslie Jones wasn't terrible. Not break-out great, but not terrible. None of them were really break-out great for that matter. Kate McKinnon was funny at points, but also felt like she couldn't be in a scene without drawing attention to herself.

And of course they had to niggerfy the Ghostbusters song. Because updating a classic song always means nigger-fying it.

But those are the bad points. It has enough funny moments to make it worth seeing once. But once all hell breaks loose in NYC, you can pretty much fast-forward to when it's daylight again. Yes, they save the day (do I need a spoiler tag for that?), but you already knew that and everything that happens in that time kind of bored me. But there's another Thor scene at the end, and Thor was by far the funniest thing in the movie.

It isn't horrible by any means, but it is not a classic either.

I thought the trick was to obfuscate obscene profits by artificially raising the costs of production, by "paying themselves" through shell companies— to imply it's more than the total revenue, then bankrupting those companies with further costs as they funnel the money back to their main accounts.

Thus avoids pesky things like taxes, and further increases profits by shorting stocks and other neat accounting wizardry. Think: the Harry Potter movies; on paper they lost money, but we all know they've made billions.

They have nothing to gain by intentionally tanking a movie; aside from extending their trademark rights and maintaining licencing arrangements, or something like that. Which, actually, could totally be it.

While I don't necessarily think it was intentionally tanked, I'd say that Fantastic Four (2015) happened because 20th Century Fox just wanted to extend their ownership of the rights and didn't care about the quality of the movie at all.

You know it's a bad sign when even most women don't want to pay money to see it.

I thought this week would be way more fun, with the back and forth shit-slinging on this movie, but it really just is the movie no one wanted or asked for. And the news cycle is feeding the general need for scandal and drama with real actual scary events.

Things like "Grrlpower" and "Movies aren't Diverse Enough!" are peace-time obsessions, tolerated and toyed with by a bored and under-stimulated population. But when things get genuinely fucky out in the real world, this stuff seems like small concern.

Because it is. When shit hits the fan, all of the "but that's not what girls are supposed to do" and "real men need Feminism" and "men in women's washrooms?!" bs goes out that window.

You do what you can when you can and you get treated with respect for it. We all breathe the same air; we eat the same, drink the same and shit the same... I'd rather have an lgbtqia individual from my neighbourhood watching my flank than be alone in the metaphorical foxhole.

I see this as a positive sign that there are less SJWs in the world now.

Let's check the numbers for drive-ins, though, I have a feeling we're looking at a majority of the supporters simply not being able to fit through the front doors. Whereas with a drive-in, well, there you can just back the truck up and let the tailgate down - no fuss, no muss. Someone go get Momma some nachos, she's gettin' hangry again.

They might not've reduced in number, SJWs never consume the media they taint anyway.

You know those giant bins in the middle of the aisles at Walmart, whole bin of movies for five bucks. That's where the new Ghostbusters will be calling home. So you'll go "Hmm, maybe for five bucks I could pick up that Ghostbusters rema-- oooh, is that The Rock? Hell yeah, Rock time tonight babe."
