With the 480, that time may come sooner, but at least they have at least one option that 1060 buyers do not.
Again, crossfire is so hit and miss that you're just setting yourself up for a hassle you won't want anyway. Unless support significantly improves it's not worth it. Besides, if you really feel the need to future proof yourself just save up for a 1070 and not only will you be SLI capable, a single card will destroy even the best RX 480 crossfire scenario.
If performance really matters to you, don't half-ass it. Saving money is not hard, and the jump in performance between the 1060 and the 1070 is substantial.
