Reddit Admins intentionally miss the point
[–] RedditIsDead ago
Bots have been hammering Reddit since '07 in pathetic attempts to get traffic. That's not the real reason for the changes. Admins have been banning them for at least as long and Mods enjoy the hell outta that "power"(lol w/e)
Whether it's old fashioned laziness by Mods, a concerted effort WITH Mods to astroturf posts, or advertisers bitching about negative comments on their posts(<---this), the entire "fuzziness" era stinks to high heaven.
If you see 12 upvotes on a sub/comment in less than 15 mins that goes contrary to common sense, you don't need a 4 year degree in marketing to know it's been worked. As a Mod, you remove it and move on. But... If your hands are tied with the fuzziness bullshit, you have plausible deniability on your side, and you can keep accepting those PayPal payments from that HuffPo blogger.
It's horseshit.

Well my post hit front page on reddit. After I posted it to r/funny on my reddit account, then some shitbag reposted it, getting it to #1 on front page

once again, they can't come up with a real solution to the bot problem, so here's something totally useless to distract reddit masses while they basically ignore the power users.
it amazes me that the problem they are solving (inaccurate vote counts) are only exists for people that a. spefically requested the numbers be viewable via res, and b. dont care about a little fuzziness.
i think what they dont want to say is that they removed the fuzzing altogether and were for some technical reason unable to leave comments unaffected. also, they just do not want actual vote counts out there and im starting to become skeptical that its for bot purposes

It's so they can advertise and vote brigade (one of the Admins is an SRS member), without being called out on it.
[–] getahitcrash 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
I've heard that was true. I've heard that if you say anything about SRS you get shadow banned from all of Reddit too. That must be why 2x was recently made a default sub as well.

I think the rot goes much deeper than just the Admins. Last year at a point when SRSSucks changed the rules and practically surrendered to the whims of SRS and started forcing changes to stop brigading on its part, things felt fishy and quite a few people left. I was one of those.
I was quickly invited to mod an alternative private sub that didn't kowtow the SRS line and pretty soon it was banned with most members being shadowbanned. I was spared for whatever reason(Maybe my decision to not vote and test the water before doing so helped me). We started all over again with the same core members, with a new sub and pretty soon it got banned too. We started to use VPNs and MAC Spoofers, and discussing tactics on a provate irc channel just to try and see how the Admins kept finding us and they kept finding us. Maybe there was a mole among us.
What I mean is that for them to pursue us to that extent even though the worst things we did was vote on comments in linked threads confuses me. There were 5 of us.
One of them knew a lot about the Admins and even posted one guilty Admin's name on irc, but he was quite paranoid. A quick google search revealed them to be a well respected member of the 'industry'

I've figured this based on how they're acting, but would you happen to have a good guess as to who it might be?

Why wouldn't they just say that, though? If they had told us the real reason and been completely honest, this probably wouldn't be unfolding the way it is.
Do you think this new system is going to be a good system? Do you think they will revert back to the way the userbase wants things, or do you think they've done too much damage by not saying exactly what's going on?
Personally, I can't really say, because I just don't know.

Apparently, bots are only a small part of the reason they fuzz votes:

That bullshit is why I just signed up here.
