TBF, Nintendo copied those from other companies. Analog sticks were pseudo-present in the form of joysticks which were the default directional control for controllers until the d-pad. Also arguably Sega was right alongside them in the analog control department because the 3D Saturn pad came out roughly around the same time as the N64 controller; they could have been reactionary to the N64 controller since that was revealed in 1995 but given the build quality and the fact one of its biggest games of '96 practically demanded analog controls, it's better to say Sega probably implemented their own analog controller design roughly around mid-1995 or so,
Rumble in the broad sense already existed with force feedback systems in arcade machines, but in this case Nintendo did implement it first in a controller. Sony improved on this and made the feature built into the controller itself with the Dual Shock.
Motion controls had already been done before the Wii, again with Sega and in this case the Sega Bass Fishing peripheral on Dreamcast. What Nintendo did was improve on the experience and made it standard across the entire platform, but they didn't conceive the idea first. Also, the Move was arguably a better implementation of motion controls than the original Wiimote.
I know the last point is just a joke b/c that would make everyone aside from Magnavox a copycat xD.

This fucking company.
The only way for Nintendo to make any progress in the industry and be a real competitor is to clean house, starting with Miyamoto. The guy is a relic who is stuck in the late 80s/early 90s. But, just how Tyler won't ditch the Cuck mod team, this will never happen.
Expect the NX to have the exact same life cycle as the WiiU. I bet my life on it.

I can already tell you what the system will be: underpowered, rely on one or two stupid gimmicks that no one will utilize correctly and have no 3rd party support outside of the launch window. This happens every fucking time but the spergs continue to beat their meat over Nintendo hardware.
[–] ZeroXVX 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
I just can't see the NX doing that much better than the WiiU. They seem to once again be relying on one feature or gimmick, hoping that it sells the system like the Wii. At this point in Nintendo's life with very little 3rd party support and bare online community I just don't see the draw, other then their 1st party titles which didn't help the WiiU sell at all.

Hopefully it's an improvement, because their software (when they're pushing the quality) deserves better platforms. But if they can't make the NX successful their time in the home console market is over; no one will take them seriously anymore if NX bomb, except when it comes to handhelds.

Yeah, I want to play mario maker and such, but I'm not willing to spend money on a dead console just for 3-5 1st party games. The issue has always been their hardware being the bottom of the barrel when compared to everyone else. In a perfect world they would ditch the console and just focus on games, but I doubt that will ever happen.

Their competitors have copied things in the past.It is a legit concern. The other main reason for the delay is getting games ready.I mostly only play Nintendo games and only but a few games per year. Many concerns that effect other people don't effect me.Besides what I said about NX is the previous sentences about the delay the only things we actually know about it is the March 2017 release date. All of the other rumors are false unless confirmed directly by Nintendo themselves.

Their competitors followed market trends and did what they felt was right; it just so happened Nintendo did them first. That's if we're talking about Sony and Microsoft. Sega actually did some things Nintendo later copied (custom optical disc media format, controller-based motion controls (Sega Bass Fishing peripheral on DC predates Wii nunchuck + Wiimote by some years), memory expansion carts (1MB cart w/ KOF '96 predates the Expansion Pak by 2 years, "2nd-screen" concept predating the PocketStation, GC/GBA connectivity and Wii U Gamepad)), and Sega themselves copied from those like NEC (CD add-on for a cartridge system, for example) and back from Nintendo.
That's just how the industry goes. Things that would later be copied and iterated on, but that didn't stop them from trying and didn't make them come up with weak sauce to explain why they skipped the biggest media event of the year (when they made consoles and gave a fuck). And the thing about the delay, is that time-wise it does not line up with a traditional console launch and they're going to miss out on big holiday sales.
That March release is not intentional, it was delayed. And either something very big happened on the production side (the AMD chip rumors may or may not be true) or they did not feel like they had a strong enough product to compete with the holiday releases, PSVR and maybe PS Neo if that's actually coming out this year.

Oh Bullshit. What competitors would that be? They've said in the past they aren't competing with Sony and MS. I have every console they ever put out. And the Wii U AND it's games are the worst they've ever done. I have all the big first party games too.
Mario Kart was boring as shit, nowhere near as good as MKWii. 3D World was New Super Mario Bros in 3D and I was already sick to death of the "beat the timer to the flagpole" shit. The only games I really enjoyed were the two Zelda remakes, those were games I kept coming back to the WiiU to keep playing. And I also loved the originals.
Sorry Nintendo, I don't think I'm gonna buy the NX at launch. Your games have been sucking worse and worse each generation since Gamecube. I'll get the new Zelda game for the WiiU. It's what I should have done with the original Twilight Princess, because I really regret getting the Wii version instead of the Gamecube one.
They just need to leave the home console industry already and focus on handhelds. Because that's where their good games are now, the 3DS.

I might be in the minority here but MK Double Dash is still my favorite Mario Kart. Such a blast playing that one. And I've got high hopes for the new Zelda but I think they announced the NX version too early. Let the Wii U have its own special swan song and push another big game to draw people in to NX, not merely a port.
It'd be terrible if they left the home console market, and it already cut deep for me when Sega folded, but if they can't adapt to the broader market with NX their days in it are numbered. Cash reserves (which are depleting btw) won't be there forever to pad out the failures.

Im a nintendo fan, been playing 3d world and Toad Treasure Tracker on CEMU lately and they are some damn fun games...but this, this is "We've no idea what were going to do yet" levels of bullshit.

Shame on you, dude. Nintendo deserve being defended - they are a spark of originality in the mudane sea of samey shit that is Sony and Microsoft this era. At least Nintendo offer something unique.
[–] rabidjackdaniels [S] 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago
I'm not a Nintendo hater and in fact like a lot of their work, but I also like being fair and criticize them when I feel they deserve it. Their handling of NX to the public has been underwhelming to say the least, and the company isn't the saint lots of people think it is. I also disagree that Sony is part of the samey sea of mundane, when they have stuff like Dreams, Detroit and Horizon coming out. Even Microsoft looks pretty good with Recore and Scalebound (hate the dubstep tho).
Nintendo does good things but they could be doing so much better if they got their ducks in a row.
