It appears they put more effort into the promotion of this heap than they put into the movie itself. Just grabbed a bunch of "strong independant womyn" stereotypes and hoped it would write itself, I guess.
Imagine how bad a "Back to the Future" with a fat chick and a gender studies professer could be.
Don't dare speak such heresy. Perish the thought!

"But Doc, how are we going to travel through time when you're not a scientist?!"
"Watch me, Martha!"

Fuck this fucking movie. And that isn't even a gender issue, its a half-assed piece of shit, and you can tell from the trailer.
Reboots aren't easy, and comedy reboots are even more difficult. This stinking turd is doomed by shit writing out of the gate, nevermind the super-fem-feelz-brigade behind it.
It'll tank, and then, when nobody even bothers PIRATING it, because it stinks so bad - only then will the truth sink in...

- Don’t be afraid to mute people.
ROFL. Why did I not see that coming...
Edit: Also...
Your joy at a movie in 2016 actually has zero impact on their childhoods, but shhh, they haven’t seemed to have figured that out yet.
Actually I figured that a long time ago (see Nostalgia Critic on Avatar live movie.)

It's like whatever they do, we win. Either the movie flops hard, or feminists and cucks waste their money on a shitty movie and it still flops hard. It's not like there's enough of them to make much of a dent.

When I went to see XMEN Apocalypse, they played the ghostbusters trailer. The audible groans from the people in the theatre speak volumes.
People can't even stomach the trailer, let alone have the urge to go see the movie in its entirety.
I get the feeling this is going to be one of those movies where people just get up and leave, once they've realised that it is indeed that bad. And word of mouth spreads like wildfire, people will tell their friends/family how terrible it is, they tell their friends/family and so on.
It was destined to flop from the moment that trailer went public.

They say "no publicity is bad publicity", but I don't think that's quite true. There's the bad publicity that comes out of controversy, that excites people and arouses their curiosity, and then there's the kind that reveals a weak thing for what it is. Feminists wish that it's the former, but it's the latter. Nobody out there is going "oh wow, they dared to make the ghostbusters female, this is so TABOO I'm going to sneak out and watch this movie despite my conservative white republican anti-gay christian parents telling me no". It's just not happening. The status quo is not controversial or taboo. The movie just looks like shit, and not even the "so bad it's good" kind of shit. When it comes time for people to make a decision on what to spend their money on, they'll go see something else, because they want something enjoyable.
