I never have talked to anyone that uses a Chromebook and I personally don't see any real uses. I would go for a Nivida tablet first and spend a little more
I actually got one a month ago to use as a coffee table computer since I don't have a laptop at home. It works well for what it is: living room web browsing with good battery life while still being lightweight, and with a dedicated keyboard. 99% of what I use it for is eMail and Voat, but that's 99% of my living room computer use anyway. If I need something more complex I'll use my desktop.

Schools use them because they are dirt cheap, easy to repair but eat up the power plug area like mad!
