What combat readiness function would a kosher/halal mre serve? If a dietary plan already exists to support soldiers in the field this is a totally superfluous action for a government to take.

What resources will be spent to ensure such arbitrary standards? Someone will be making a lot of money to stamp a halal/kosher approval sticker on mres. Why is that money being spent at all when a servicible mre plan exists?

Except none of those things require anything more than a basic edibility and functionality test. To add religious tests to the food is an unnecessary wrinkle in the process.

There is a limit to how much accommodation is necessary for a military to undergo. If you sign up to be a gi joe then youre an extension of the state and not quite a whole and free person.
