Remember, most of us were all former reddit clowns... Anything stopping the folks ruining/who ruined Reddit from contaminating Voat?

Downvote restrictions. A lot of people cry about it and leave Voat. Not to mention people speak freely here, which scares away a lot of the people who would shit this place up.

Those down vote restrictions suck. Just saying. I am an active observer, and feel like I started commenting just to defeat the downvote block challenge.

A few things: modlogs that are constantly visible; a limit on the number of subverses you can run (10, with 3 or less 'default' subverses on your list); a CCP requirement to even request a moderator position; admins who step in to remove 'default' moderators who have gone too far (rather than just the occasional 'remove subreddit from default list, only to add 5 others that are equally bad'); users who keep an eye on any accounts known to belong to powermods from Reddit (like HenryCorp); etc.

In the end, it is theoretically possible that they could still get through, but it would take a lot more time, planning, and subterfuge than it took on Reddit. I don't think that the people behind the powermod accounts are anywhere close to being smart enough to pull such a deceit off. Over there, the admins just loudly whistled and walked away from their computer whenever the site got up in arms about powermods or toxic subreddits that the admins liked. Here, there is currently only a very small userbase that even tries to defend moderators that have gone too far.

Oh. Too much hassle to verify, so here's an up vote. Thanks for the info. It seems legit, but damn you if it's not!

No, there's nothing stopping them right now. The downvoat restrictions can be abused against users, for example, a group can target one user and effectively silence them by taking their voats down to a very low number.

That and right now there's a massive circlejerk on voat, going against the jerk will get you mass downvoated across all of your comments. Voat is just another Reddit right now.

Kind of my initial concern, the whole Voat is kind of like Reddit.

This plus a gawker network crash plus a Ghostbusters flop could mean a burst of the millennial media bubble. Please let this happen. Also give Starwars mom a heat attack.

Looking forward to the last good parts of reddit moving to voat (Android, Futurology, etc). Hopefully this is the final straw.

It's been dead for a long time... what you see now is just the zombified corpse.
