Ancestry, not nationality really, as Curiel is an American national even if I don't personally see him as an American. But it's not so much Trump being racist as it is the shitlib media pressuring a cowed and cowardly GOP establishment into bashing Trump. It wore him down.
It does demonstrate the power of the press even at this stage if only due to its power to set and control the narrative. This is a problem.

Just their ethnicity.

It should be noted that 'Mexican' is not an ethnicity. It is best described as a nationality. I guess in this case it would be correct to say Trump was questioning whether Curiel is biased against him based on his ancestry.
And of course Muslims are not an ethnic group except I guess in combination with being a Muslim of Bosnian ancestry.

And people call this man a racist. Ha.
Trump has never been a racist. He's a businessman. Open racism doesn't get you business. He may elect to hire the most eligible of people (which becomes racist by proxy due to political correctness demanding a diversity quota) but he himself harbors little, if any racial animosity.
Racists, like me, who sympathize with Trump's political campaign do so because they have no one else to vote for and him being the closest thing to a nationalist we've ever seen running for some time now, it's only natural the "bigoted" people would jump on the Trump train.
Also I live in California and further Mexicanizing this country will be disastrous.

Very wise words. We are all individuals.

More like PC pabulum to try and appease the current manufactured media nonsense over this judge. I can think of many ways in which I'd judge someone based on their color or sex or age or whatever. If I want to have a face to face discussion about Trump, for example, and want a pro-Trump perspective from a stranger am I likelier to get one from an elderly white male or a black female college student?
This is basically just Trump being politically correct to try and appease his critics. This kind of concession rarely works and he's been successful so far by refusing to back down in these controversies. He's still refusing to back down specifically on the Curiel comments but this statement here is not the usual strong Trump we're used to.

Yeah, I do worry a lot of people are going to take this as capitulation. "Mexican" is not even a race.
One can be doubtful or suspicious about someone for certain characteristics without judging them. "Judge," 'judgment," "judging" all have multiple senses in their definitions, so it can become quite semantical.
In this sense I take "judging" to mean a condemnation without any or much doubt, which I think foolish to do just based off of race, color, or ethnicity.

This is exactly what literally Hitler would say.
