I got one this week: Girlfriend and I broke up. It really sucks. Completely lost my interest in doing anything at all.

That sucks. For me heartache makes me push myself at the gym. It's also the best distraction I know. Stay strong.

It's crazy how much exercise can improve your well-being even on the emotional/mental side. Just being active seems to keep my mood up and give me more energy during the day, and it's easier to fall asleep at night and wake up well rested as well.

You have my sympathies :( If you can find a way to keep yourself doing things even without the desire to, you'll feel better with time. The cliche says that time heals all wounds, and it's really true even if it doesn't feel like it before you've healed. Staying occupied helps that process along.

Biology.

A word to the wise: self-improvement is a double edged sword. It draws two kinds of attention. Hatred and admiration. The trick is in how you deal with both. You're the one that matters. Don't lose sight of it.

The lack of participation in most subs aside from the large ones like FPH.

Aside from that, injuring my lower back from dead-lifts (I was trying to improve my horrible form by going slower with lighter weights and exaggerating my movements, ended up over-extending my back) and thus having to take a week off to recover. I've just been running a few miles everyday. By the way, should I still be taking my creatine during this period? I should be starting to lift again on Sunday.

As far as the creatine, I'd still take it. It's not going to hurt you, and taking off one week probably won't affect you too much.

As far as the participation I know it sucks. If I had more interesting content to post, I would. I think it takes a "critical mass" of people to have a steady stream of newer content. Voat is either not there yet, or there's not enough people who want to post. The only thing you can change is how much you yourself posts.

Thanks for the advice.

I believe the problem is the latter. We have a lot of lurkers on this site and those who are active mainly participate in the exodus subs; which isn't surprising as that was the area they were removed from. That's true, users like /u/ChillyHellion really do a great job keeping other subs active.

I would continue taking it for a week off as I always hate loading days
