I have not. I started in vibrams in 2011, when i started to get back into running and into long distance backpacking. I wear the trail gloves when i just dont care for people staring at my feet.

First rule of minimalist shoes is start slow and start small. I got really excited by them, the feel of the ground and the terrain, and went too fast. Ended up with metatarsalgia and a host of injuries.

But really? I have been in them so long or barefoot (hell i did hike from ohio to montana minimmalist) that anything like a work boot with a heel causes discomfort now, and if i smash a rock with my toe or land on a tree stump (you'll see what im talking about if you go minimalist) i dont even feel it anymore.

And watch out for minimalist runner forums. They are... an interesting... breed.

I have a pair of vibrams and I absolutely adore them. I started wearing them in 2010 as reef shoes when I would go surfing since I wanted something that wouldn't hurt my grip on the board and would still protect me from walking on the rocks when I was trying to get out to the swells.

I have to wear boots for work so the idea of feeling the ground is so tantalizing. I think I'll order a pair at the end of this month now!

Its a weird feeling, I didnt realize how bad of a heel striker i was until i went minimalist and barefoot.

Running changes drastically, and its amazing how running like that alters your gait and stride. It actually made me more of an efficient runner, and when it comes to trails, more sensory information, and faster reflexes and adaptations to slippery ground, those random rocks and roots, gravel, etc...

Whenever my mom has an issue with her gait (stride gets sloppy, she bruised her heel a few weeks ago, etc.. and she is a 61 year old boston qualifier) she spends time running barefoot in the grass or switches to a slower run in the vibrams while her muscles remember how they are supposed to work. (She normally runs in newtons).
