I don't really understand how round robin in luck based. If memory serves, a round robin sees everyone play against everyone at least once, which in theory should dismiss luck as a factor because if a team has one bad game, they're not going to be knocked out of the tournament entirely because of it. Instead, the one bad game is chalked up, but their performance overall will prevail.

I agree that a league format is kinda boring, but it might be easier if there's a lot of people. Much easier organisation.

league is everyone fighting everyone, netting them points for the results, then finally judging the winner with most points

round robin follows brackets, and depending on a bracket, a really bad player can be lucky and only go up against bad players, since the good players may have been eliminated early on in the opposite end of the bracket, by other good players or medium players.

also, "byes" allow some players to fight fewer, due to lack of players for an even bracket.

the players are "seeds" and are either drawn randomly in order, or manually placed/qualified
