Diet soda isn't healthy, but it's definitely not as unhealthy as soda. Soda and diet soda get processed the same way by the body, except for the fact soda adds unnecessary calories that don't do anything for your body.

Calorically speaking, they are nowhere near the same. I enjoy a diet Mt. Dew once in a while. I'm sure as hell not going to replace it with the HFC version. My body doesn't react well to sugary shit.

Unsweetened tea works for me, too. I'll drink diet coke sometimes, as well, but that's because I think it's dumb to add 50 grams of sugar in liquid form to an already carb-heavy meal. If I'm going to have sugar, it's going to be in the form of something more satisfying than soda. At least fruit has fiber and vitamins in it.
