Well, if you make a big public spectacle about global warming and how it's the single biggest threat to humanity, and then you drive when you could easily walk, then yes, you are just as big a hypocrite as he is. No one is attacking the rich people flying private jets who are not engaged in a massive virtue signaling campaign.

You kind of are though. Let's say 20 cars = 20 pollution units. 1 bus eliminates 40 cars and = 15 pollution units. I pulled these numbers out of the air (pun intended), but that's the idea, trade 40 cars for one bus = less pollution.

Yeah, but I'm never gonna ride a bus with a bunch of poor people. I had to ride the C train in Calgary for 2 weeks, riding at peak hours. I wanted to kill someone every day. Retarded teens talking about drugs, passing their pipe around (not smoking, just showing). Don't get me wrong, I smoke pot. I don't bother other people with it though. Smelling fuckers everywhere. Fat people and their rolls invading my space. Nope, sorry. I will never take public transit.

Not sure why you got dv'd, but the technology used to dv you was made in part by fossil fuels as well. Especially in the states right now, natural gas is all the rage because power companies turn the most profit on it.
I guess some eurogoats might have some cleaner alibis though
[–] Redditsdead 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
Not to mention that natural gas is used in the production of many, many chemicals and materials. It's not released as CO2 but it isn't doing the oceans any good.

Oh wait who cares. Hes an actor. His opinions and actions are relevant only because simple minded people choose to view them as such.

I'm not siding up with Leonardo, but air travel has grown much more fuel efficient in recent years. Yeah, yeah, I know private jet vs commercial yet, but still. How else is he supposed to get there? Being a public figure makes commercial travel more difficult.
http://www.yaleclimateconnections.org/2015/09/evolving-climate-math-of-flying-vs-driving/ Numbers in the chart are from the FAA.

"(He) demonstrates exactly why our consumption of fossil fuels continues to grow. It's because everyone loves the combination of cost and convenience they offer. Alternatives usually require sacrifice of one form or another." Rapier added.
The fucktard wants me to inconvenience myself while he destroys the planet. That's pedophile hollywood for you.

It's worth to note that space is only ~100 km away, but still - that's a lot of fuel to move just one person from London to New York.

To be fair, at least he is doing other stuff for the cause. More than most others do. I have to imagine that the millions he has donated are doing more good than his private jet is doing bad.
[–] Sosacms 1 point 25 points 26 points (+26|-1) ago
Oh you... That's not how it works. It's not about the good things others do, it's about finding anything bad so we can feel superior. Sure, I have a burning tire pile in my yard but when it comes to private jet usage, I'm way better than DiCaprio.

You uncovered mu gripe I have with a lot of people.
[–] DickHertz 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
Depends how big of a pile you're burning.
