Didn't know that there still was such a strong divide between West- and East-Germany. The creator and source of this map (a Redditor) also made smaller maps:
In my german culture class we talked about this. It used to be that Germany was actually 1/3 catholic and 2/3rd Protestant. However the anticlericism of the GDR(east Germany) severally reduced of the Protestant populations in Saxony. So now Germany is back to being more 1/2 catholic and 1/2 Protestant.
