Mushroom trips should be taken outside. The walls of a house seem to close in around you, at least that's my experience. Try going somewhere secluded with trees and water. The shapes, colors and open air are truly amazing.
Edit: this is just my opinion. I'd say the main thing is to have a plan and be with people you trust. Mushrooms shouldn't be taken nonchalantly.

They had programs for terminally ill patients back in the days, they used mushrooms or other hallucinogens and they would notice a complete shit in mood and overall well being, but the program ended because "Muh War on Drugs". Fucking science and govt, they take shit away and bring it back like if it was something new.

Shrooms have always been good for me, it's the bad trippers I can stand doing them with.
Can't let the fear take you or its gonna be unpleasant. Mostly I've noticed it's people that don't have their shit together already that lose it.
