ReactOS look like Windows 95. Why in the hell would they design the GUI to look that antiquated? Although I admire the tenacity of the dev team on this one, I just don't believe this project will ever mature and grow a larger community. At least not with Linux, RemixOS, Chrome OS, MacOS, and authentic Windows being better alternatives.

here is some tweets when i invited the Russian foundation Dev of ReactOS and Palemoon dev to Voat -

here is a link to where ReactOS garnered interest by Russian federation as alternative software freedom efforts.

i'd expect things to pick up, plus i believe the GUI can already support a Linux clone look.

all the OS you just listed include known NSA back-doors. (other than the hardware ones) *

*i don't know what 'RemixOS' is so educate me if you feel the need.

Remix OS is a fork of Android. The most unique thing about it is that they've created a desktop version that is actually functional as a desktop replacement. They've already got at least one manufacturer selling an AIO computer running the OS. It's definitely not a major player in the OS world, but I'd argue it has more promise for mainstream acceptance than a clone of Windows that, honestly, just looks extremely dated. I'm not trying to trash the project, but I just don't see a big demand for such a thing, especially when open source alternatives (based on Linux) are widely available and actively developed and supported. But hey, if they can create something compelling, that would be awesome.

less time spent making a flashy cuck attracting OS, and more time making one that just works and allows people to get in there and customize it.

Have the Fine Bros launched an operating system now?

I see your point, especially if you use VM's for any windows binaries you need to run.

For me, I would only use React if it could run windows games - which is just a fancy way of me saying I need a DirectX emulator to push crap to my GeForce video card.

you'll be running your programs in wine quite well before this becomes viable. This is alpha alpha level.

ReactOS is more or less a glorified wine and gnome install with a FLOSS NT kernel.

it'd be better just to stay on the cutting edge of wine development and just use linux

I'm just gonna put a plug out to a community that I wish was more active than it is. /v/AlternativeOS

ReactOS is a Free Community Opensource Collaborative Compatible operating system.

Imagine running your favorite Windows applications and drivers in an open-source environment you can trust. That's ReactOS. Not just an Open but also a Free operating system.

If this OS matures enough to run the windows Steam Games I already own, I'm sold.

Yeah, the only reason I run windows now on my machine is for games. I dual-boot into linux for other stuff, especially development.
